PGA Awards 2014, nomination: House of Cards e Arrested Development sfidano Homeland, Breaking Bad, Modern Family e The Big Bang Theory

Le due realtà Netflix sfidano le serie tv via cavo nella categoria drama e le serie tv delle principali emittenti americane nelle comedy.

Il sindacato dei produttori americani ha annunciato i candidati ai PGA Awards 2014, i premi assegnai alle migliori produzioni televisive seriali e speciali e alle serie digitali. Nella categoria che decreta la migliore produzione drammatica la sfida è tra le serie via cavo Breaking Bad (AMC), Downton Abbey (PBS), Game of Thrones (HBO), Homeland (Showtime) e la serie del canale online Netflix House of Cards. Nelle categoria comedy lo scontro si allarga ai canali classici con 30 Rock (NBC), The Big Bang Theory (CBS) e Modern Family (ABC) che devono fare i conti con la serie via cavo Veep (HBO) e con la serie online Arrested Development (NetFlix).

Prima di vedere la lista completa dei candidati ai PGA (che saranno consegnati il 19 gennaio 2014 al Beverly Hilton Hotel) vi segnaliamo alcune curiosità: il servizio di streaming online Netflix è, insieme a HBO, l’unica realtà che ha due serie tv in lizza; la serie Netflix più acclamata, Orange is the new black, è risultata ineleggibile perché in lizza potevano esserci solo produzioni andate in onda tra il primo giugno 2012 e il 31 maggio 2013, mentre la season premiere di Orange è stata rilasciata un mese dopo; l’unica novità drammatica rispetto allo scorso anno è la presenza di House of Cards al posto di Mad Man (serie sempre nominata e vincitrice del premio due volte); Arrested Development è stato candidato per la quarta volta su quattro stagioni.
