Sono stati annunciati i candidati all’NAACP Image Award 2013, i premi assegnati dalla National Association for the Advancement of Colored People a coloro che onorano, attraverso prodotti televisivi, cinematografici, musicali e letterari, la realtà delle persone di colore. A dominare le nomination è stato il film tv di Lifetime Steel Magnolias (remake di Fiori d’acciaio, film di Herbert Ross del 1998), che è candidato a sette premi (sei su dieci tra gli attori!). Tra le serie ottengono sei nomination Grey’s Anatomy (miglior drama, miglior sceneggiatura, Migliore attrice protagonista – Chandra Wilson e Sandra Oh -, Miglior attrice non protagonista -Loretta Devine -), e quattro Treme (miglior serie drammatica, miglior attore protagonista, miglior attrice protagonista, miglior attore non protagonista).

Da segnalare: ABC, grazie soprattutto ai lavori di Shonda Rhimes, guida la speciale classifica dei network con 20 nomination; Michael Clarke Duncan, morto lo scorso settembre, è tra i candidati come migliore attore di una serie drammatica (The Finder); Glee è candidato come miglior serie comedy e come miglior attrice protagonista (Amber Riley).
